FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions
The Video won't play in my Internet Browser. Is there something wrong?
Our video content is primarily designed to playback using Microsoft Silverlight in Internet Explorer. Silverlight is a browser plug-in, like Adobe Flash, or Adobe Shockwave. Content will also play in Apple Safari on Mac. You may also need Java if your browser doesn't already have it as part of the package.
There could be a couple of issues why the video isn't playing.
The first is: check what Internet Browser you are using. The video content on this website will play on the following browsers: Internet Explorer 8 and above, Safari 5.0 and above, Google Chrome 9.0 and above. These are browsers we have tested and know work.
We know, and it is widely documented that Mozilla Firefox does not support the mp4 Video Format due to Mozilla not holding a licence for its use. They have a different video format which they use (ogg and the new Open Video format, WebM). Most Adobe Flash content still works under Firefox, but we have found cross-platform issues for mobile content and standard web browsers with Flash, which is why we design and code website content for use in Internet Explorer and Safari as primary browsers.
The second: You may need to update your Internet Browser. Check the company's website that developed your browser for more details on updating.
The third: There could be an issue with your internet browser, and you might need to un-install and re-install. Check the company's website that developed your browser.
The fourth: Well the reasons above are the only ones we could come up with. The only other thing is to check to make sure you are online and you have access to high-speed internet... But if you can see this page, then you're probably already are connected.
Are you developing content for mobile devices?
Yes we are. We have already developed content for Apple devices, such as the iPod Touch 4th Generation, and the iPhone 4. Our websites are also designed and optimised for use on the Apple iPad, not just a standard Internet Browser.
Our development team are also currently testing content for Android and Symbian devices as well. We also are testing Silverlight for Symbian for Nokia devices. Stay tuned for more details.
Why is the Video is taking a long time to load?
There could be a couple of reasons for this.
Our content is designed for Playback on Mobile Broadband devices, ADSL1, ADSL2+ and Cable as a minimum. Depending on your Internet Service Provider (ISP) or Mobile Provider (eg. Telstra, Optus, Vodafone, 3, etc.) check your connection speed and network activity. If another computer is downloading large files, or someone is using your bandwidth in your household, then the video will stream to your computer slower than normal. However on a mobile device (USB Modem or Mobile Phone), some things that can affect streaming video are Mobile Network Coverage, how far you are away from the closest mobile tower or towers, Weather, if you are inside, or outside. These are just some of the reasons why video content may not play straight away, or seem slower than normal.
There could also be a lot of people watching content from our server. However it is very rare for this to have any affects on streaming, as our server is off the backbone to the Data Centre.
